Arami Ullón

Arami Ullón was born in 1978 in Asunción (Paraguay). She produced “18 and a Half Cigarettes” (Marcelo Tolces – ESP/MEX/PY, 2011). She directed the short film “Ausencia de un nombre propio” (PY, 1998) and the feature documentaries El tiempo nublado (CH/PY, 2014) and Apenas El Sol (CH/PY, 2020). El Tiempo Nublado was Paraguay’s first nomination for the Oscars (2016). Her second feature documentary Apenas El Sol was the opening film of IDFA (International Documentary Festival of Amsterdam, Netherlands 2020) and received the FIPRESCI award at the Istanbul Documnetary Days (Turkey -2021). Her films have been screened at prestigious festivals such as Locarno (Switzerland), Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic), HotDocs (Canada), Montreal International Documentary Festival (Canada), Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine de la Habana (Cuba), DOC NYC, Gijón, among others. Ullon’s second feature, Apenas El Sol (Nothing But The Sun) has been selected by the Paraguayan Academy of Cinematographic Arts and as the official entry to represent Paraguay at the upcoming Academy Awards. Ullón lives and works in Switzerland and in Paraguay.
